WHAT'S ON I HOW TO FIND US I FEEDBACK I GUESTBOOK I SEARCH I LETTERS I LINKS

The time has come for me to hang up my Web tools.  Due to the need to maintain another Web Site I must give up the Earlsdon On-Line site.  If anyone wants to take it over, please let me know by writing to feedback above.  It would be a shame to close the site completely as it contains a real snapshot of life in the village - as well as some impressive shots of old Earlsdon.  Maintenance of the site only takes about an hour or two per week and there are people around willing to advise.  So   ... if you are interested in having a go, drop me a line before the end of August.
The meeting at Earlsdon School to discuss the proposed Cassidy's Building company's Planning Application to replace Earlsdon Business Centre with a 5 storey high 242 unit accommodation for students and a 15,000 square feet shopping area, the size of a supermarket WAS PACKED!  If you want to follow developments on the Web or e-mail the Planning Department follow this link.

The Godiva Festival attracted thousands of people as usual with a range of exhibitions and activities.  Here are one or two photos with a few more here

Men on horseback hitting each other with long sticks! People blowing through long sticks!
This year the Festival was on a number of sites.  Hearsall Common held the main event and other venues such as St. Barbara's Church and the Albany Social Club car park drew people.  Due to the beautiful weather, our investigative reporters only managed to get to the church and the Social Club car park.  The pubs and wine bars between venues may also have had something to do with it too!  Therefore, a small but perfectly formed selection of snaps from this year's more local festivities.  Click on the images if you want to see them in all their full screen glory!!

Young Person being thrown off a mechanical animal at the Social Club - strange!!

Well done to the Albany Social Club for opening up their facilities to the community.

Gingerbread men at St. Barbara's Church

The fete at the church.

Ironically, the High Street was closed (see below) on the day of the festival.  You will recall that the main body of the festival was relocated to Hearsall Common because of the cost of things like the road closure and general safety.  Perhaps Severn Trent would like to come back next year and close the High Street again (at no cost to the residents) in order to bring some of the festival back to the centre of Earlsdon.
